Reiko Saisho

Reiko Saisho is a media analyst and commentator at NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation. Her work focuses on comparative studies of journalistic practices and values, as well as the transformation of public broadcasters in the digital era.

She brings more than two decades of journalistic experience to her current role. Beginning as a local reporter in northeastern Japan, she went on to serve as an international affairs correspondent with two postings in the United Kingdom. She reported regularly from Europe and the Middle East contributing to NHK’s domestic and international bulletins. Reiko has also anchored NHK’s international news programs and held editorial responsibility at NHK WORLD-JAPAN, the corporation’s 24-hour English-language news channel.

Reiko has represented NHK at global conferences, including the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Royal Institute of International Affairs. She currently serves on the International Committee of the Japan Association for Media, Journalism and Communication Studies. She was also a visiting fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University and continues to participate in global research initiatives led by the institute.
